Atlanta organization helps youth make good choices

Atlanta- Positive American Youth, also known as “P.A.Y USA,” was established in 1997. Their goal is to help youth through entertainment, sports, education, and fundraising events.

Atlanta radio personality Reec Swiney is one of the founders. His goal for the non profit was to help children in Atlanta.

Its mission originally an anti-bullying campaign, literacy, and fitness. But now we are in a pandemic they are now feeding metro Atlanta children and their families.

Why did Swiney start a nonprofit group to help kids in Atlanta?

As teen, his father challenged him to make a difference in the community. So he and a group of friends started Positive American Youth to help Atlanta youths make better choices and find success in life.

Swiney tells us, “It’s an organization where we try to teach them things through experiences and programs,” he said. “Like basketball, fitness, anti-bullying, and literacy.”

As a result his work with the nonprofit earned him an NAACP Award.  We all need to recognize people like this trying to make a difference in our communities.
